Meet our Summer Interns: Danielle Kucera, Summer Education Assistant

Name
Hi! I’m Danielle Kucera and I’m a Summer Education Assistant at Gulfshore Playhouse!

School
Belmont University

Background
I am a rising senior and will be earning my BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Education. As far as performing goes, I most recently played the Witch in Into The Woods at Belmont and will be playing Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly this fall! I have also worked as a theme park singer/dancer. Some of my education experiences include assisting theatre camps at The Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, teaching basic musicianship classes to metro-Nashville students, and assisting with after-school programs.

What is unique about Gulfshore Playhouse Conservatory programs?
The Conservatory at Gulfshore Playhouse is unique because it prepares students for the next level of not only their journey with theatre, but also teaches them so many valuable life skills applicable to any path.

Has anything surprised you about your internship?
I was surprised at how much I am learning about what it takes to run a theatre! There have been many opportunities to get to know staff from other departments and see how they all work together to create the magic that is live theatre.

How will this experience guide the next steps you take in the theatre world?
This experience will guide the next steps I take in the theatre world in that I feel more equipped to teach drama, have learned more about successful auditioning for myself, and gained more knowledge on the theatre industry as a whole.

Why are you looking forward to most working with students on The Little Mermaid JR?
I was in The Little Mermaid Jr when I was in high school and it was one of my favorite shows to be a part of! I am looking forward to working with these talented students to make it a memorable experience like I had.
