Reaching for the heights at Gulfshore Playhouse
Ghosts, saints and stories.
“Higher,” at Gulfshore Playhouse, contains all that and more: architects, stonemasons, soaring cathedrals, actors and dying fathers.
This one-man play, written and performed by Jeffrey Binder, the venue’s former associate artistic director, was created during the early days of the pandemic. Gulfshore Playhouse thought it would be able to present a one-person show safely, but Actors’ Equity didn’t allow it, due to high COVID numbers in Naples.
Finally, “Higher” is enjoying its world premiere onstage, in front of a live audience.
It’s been worth the wait.
