Tom Gallagher
Tom had a career providing investment advice to institutional investors. Working for New York-based firms and based in Washington, DC, he advised on the financial market impact of policy actions and political developments. Most recently he worked for the International Strategy and Investment Group, and prior to that he worked for Lehman Brother. Among his affiliations, he was a regular panelist on “Wall Street Week With Louis Rukeyser.”
Since retiring from full-time work in 2010, Tom was an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, was a member of the Global Investment Committee of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and served as the Vice Chairman for a Shanghai-based Chinese economic research firm. He is currently a principal at The Scowcroft Group, an international affairs consulting firm.
Tom and his wife, Nancy, met at the University of South Dakota, and they are both active in the school’s foundation. Tom is the chair of the foundation’s investment committee. He has a strong interest in conservation and serves on the US board of the African Parks Network, a nonprofit that rehabilitates and manages parks and other protected areas throughout Africa.
Mr. Gallagher earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of South Dakota (1976) and a Master’s of Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (1978).
Nancy and Tom are supporters of both the Capital Campaign and Annual Fund for Gulfshore Playhouse. They have a passion for historic preservation, having renovated their beach home in Old Naples and their log cabin in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Mr. Gallagher earned a BS in Economics and Political Science from the University of South Dakota (1976) and a Masters of Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (1978). He also has the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.
Nancy and Tom have donated to the annual fund since 2012 and are Executive Producers of the 18-19 Season. They have recently pledged to the capital campaign. They first attended the Playhouse in 2012 for The Fox in the Fairway and have attended the 2016, 2017, and 2019 Galas. Tom Gallagher recently asked to be added as a recipient on the Rehearsal and Performance reports because they love getting the inside scoop. They divide their year between Naples, Florida, and Spearfish Canyon, which is in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
