Marvin Bell

Delivery Man

MARVIN BELL (Delivery Man) is excited to be making his second appearance at Gulfshore Playhouse having portrayed Old Joe in 2022 in the GSP production of August Wilson’s Radio Golf. A native of St. Louis, Mo. where he began his career in entertainment as a stand-up comedian, a venture he would continue for some thirty-five years, as well as several roles in Community Theater where his acting bug was born. After living in Los Angeles for several years, Marvin Bell moved to New York City where his acting bug resurfaced and led him to an iconic role in Alfred Uhry’s Driving Miss Daisy (Playhouse On Park) which earned him a Broadway World Award nomination for best featured actor in a play. Marvin would reprise that role several times over the next five years. After performing the role of Jim Bono in Fences (New Harmony Theater), Marvin Bell fell in love with the work of August Wilson, seeking roles in any production of the playwright’s work, which to date include The Piano Lesson (Cape Fear Theater), and Two Trains Running (Cape Fear Theater). During the height of the recent pandemic, just as an exercise, Marvin Bell memorized the entire fourteen-thousand word text of August Wilson’s semibiographical one man show, How I Learned What I Learned and hopes to one day present the incredible work to a live audience. Marvin Bell used his background in comedy to bring life to the Ollie in the Morning After Grace (Florida Rep.) Marvin Bell is making his debut at the Arts Center of Costal Carolina in Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, looking forward to reprising the role (Flat RockPlayhouse) and adding the Arts Center of Costal Carolina to his list of performance venues. www.marvinbell.com
