STARCROSSED

Gulfshore Playhouse will be holding Equity Principal Auditions for Starcrossed on Wednesday, May 27th from 1:00-5:00 PM and Friday, May 29th from 9:00-1:00 PM at the Gulfshore Playhouse Baker Theatre and Education Center located at 100 Goodlette-Frank Road SouthNaples, FL 34102. Please enter using the front lobby doors. 

Please prepare a Shakespeare (or similarly heightened) speech such as a monologue or soliloquy no longer than two minutes. A breakdown and more information can be found below.

This 50-minute adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet is an educational partnership between Gulfshore Playhouse, the Naples Philharmonic at Artis–Naples, and the Collier County Public Schools. Created for 11th-grade students, the performance combines the story of Shakespeare’s classic play with orchestral selections from Tchaikovsky’s and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suites.

Performances: September 9-10, 2026

AEA TYA Weekly contract (two weeks of compensation)

$658.00 per week + health/pension 

SEEKING

[ROMEO] Male. 20s. Any ethnicity. Romeo is a poetic and romantic young man who has been prevented from marrying his love, Juilet. This role requires participation in combat sequences and staged intimacy (kissing). 

[JULIET] Female. 20s. Any ethnicity. Juliet is a determined and romantic young woman who must contend with the expectations of her parents and the desires of her heart. This role requires participation in staged intimacy (kissing). 

[NURSE/ MERCUTIO/ LADY CAPULET/ APOTHECARY] Female. 20s-40s. Any ethnicity. A versatile character actor with strong language/verse skills. Nurse is a caring guide and ally to Juliet. Mercutio is a fiercely loyal close friend to Romeo. Lady Capulet is Juliet’s controlling mother. The Apothecary supplies Romeo with the vial of poison that ends his life. This role requires participation in combat sequences

[FRIAR LAWRENCE/ TYBALT/ CAPULET/ BALTHASAR] Male. 20s-40s. Any ethnicity. A versatile character actor with strong language/verse skills. Friar Lawrence is a caring guide and ally to Romeo. Tybalt is Juliet’s fierce and imposing cousin. Capulet is Juliet’s strict and overbearing father. Balthasar is a servant to Romeo. This role requires participation in combat sequences.
