Assistant Production Manager

Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and experienced individual to serve as Assistant Production Manager.

Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is in the final phases of a $66M capital campaign and has broken ground on the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth, and the Assistant Production Manager will have the opportunity to participate in it.

Status: Full time, year-round position

Start Date: July 4, 2022

Representative Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Production, the Assistant Production Manager will be responsible for:

  • Acting as liaison for the Director of Production when the Director of Production is unavailable
  • Assisting the Director of Production in all areas including paperwork, emails, scheduling, and purchasing
  • Facilitating communication between design teams and the production team
  • Creating all paperwork needed to support the production teams
  • Maintaining expense records, including weekly reporting to the Director of Production
  • Attending rehearsals, calls, meetings, and performances as required
  • Assisting other departments as necessary to execute the technical elements of shows
  • Helping to keep spaces and storage areas in good clean and working order
  • Helping to supervise and mentor Production Interns
  • Providing support for special events and offsite projects
  • Participating in load-in and strike
  • Performing other related duties and assignments, as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to ensure high-quality work. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure.  The Assistant Production Manager will be expected to work extended hours when necessary to meet goals.   Weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at Opening Nights and some show performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and self-start tasks
  • Advance skill in Microsoft Excel and G-Suite programs
  • Sensitivity and respect for private and confidential information
  • A level-headed and empathetic approach to personnel management
  • Familiarity with Actors Equity and United Scenic Artists agreements

Salary: $48,000-$50,000 annually plus excellent benefits
