KEN LUDWIG (Playwright) is an internationally acclaimed playwright whose many hits on Broadway, in London's West End and throughout the world have made his name synonymous with modern comedy. He has won the Lawrence Olivier Award, England's highest theatre honor, as well as three Tony Award nominations and two Helen Hayes Awards. His work has been commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and has been performed in at least thirty countries in over twenty languages. His musical Crazy for You ran for over four years on Broadway and in London. Lend Me a Tenor, originally produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and recently revived on Broadway, was called "one of the two great farces by living a writer" by The New York Times. Other plays, and musical include Moon Over Buffalo (Broadway & London's Old Vic, starring Carol Burnett, Lynn Redgrave, Joan Collins & Frank Langella); Twentieth Century (premiered at The Signature Theatre; on Broadway, starring Alec Baldwin & Anne Heche); The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Broadway); Treasure Island (London, Theatre Royal, Haymarker; 2009 AATE Distinguished Play Award for Best Adaptation); Shakespeare in Hollywood (commissioned by The Royal Shakespeare Company, Helen Hayes Award as Best Play); Leading Ladies; Be My Baby; The Beaux' Stratagem (adaptation with Thornton Wilder at the request of the Wilder Estate); The Three Musketeers (Bristol Old Vic); An American in Paris; The Fox on the Fairway; The Game's Afoot. MATT LENZ (Director) is thrilled to be joining the Gulfshore Playhouse for FOX ON THE FAIRWAY. Matt has worked on the original Broadway productions of HAIRSPRAY, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (Associate Director) and DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Assistant Director-also National tours). Off-Broadway he directed THE IRISH CURSE, IDAHO! (Winner of Best Musical and Best Director awards 2008 New York New Musical Festival) and FINGERS AND TOES. Matt directed productions of HAIRSPRAY on National tours, in Toronto, Las Vegas, Germany and South Africa and regionally at Paper Mill Playhouse and the MUNY in St. Louis. Other recent regional work includes; [TITLE OF SHOW] at George Street Playhouse, GOD OF CARNAGE at Zach Theatre in Austin, LOVE! VALOR! COMPASSION!, AIDA (MUNY, Gateway Playhouse, Zach) , SOUTH PACIFIC (North Carolina Theatre and Casa Ma–ana), BEAUTY/BEAST (MUNY, Michigan Opera, and NCT), DIRTY BLOND, CONFIDENTIALLY, COLE at the Tiffany Theatre in Los Angeles, and the world premiere of the new musical SAINT HEAVEN at The Stamford Center for the Arts. Matt is directing the forthcoming Broadway musicals THE JOLSON SHOW and EMPIRE.
DENNIS W. MOYES (Scenic & Lighting Designer) is thrilled to be back for his second season at Gulfshore Playhouse, and is especially delighted to be working again with his former colleagues from Disney Theatrical Productions, Kristen Coury and Matt Lenz. Dennis has spent his time since last season dabbling in movies and television. He worked as an Assistant Art Director on "Person of Interest" for CBS, "White Collar" for USA Network, and a movie with as yet no title (gotta love showbiz.) He was also the Art Director for a new NBA/ESPN sports show in Los Angeles that was brought to its knees by the recent NBA players strike! He hates sports.
ANNA ALEX (sound designer) is excited to be returning to Gulfshore Playhouse! She is a recent graduate of Northern Kentucky University as a Corbett scholar. Her credits there include sound design for Urinetown: The Musical, Guys and Dolls, Taming of the Shrew, The Aaronsville Women, Shock and Awe, Nightjars and Cats. She also spent the last two years as Resident Sound Designer for New Stage Collective in Cincinnati where she worked on Caroline or Change, Bug, Take Me Out, Jerry Springer the Opera, and Striking 12. Most recently Peach State Summer Theatre used her skills as Sound Engineer/Designer for White Christmas, Hairspray and Secret Garden. CURTIS LEE JONES (technical director) is happy to return to Naples for another exciting production with Gulfshore Playhouse. A graduate of East Carolina University with a BFA in Production and Design, Curtis has served as Technical Director for Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy, the Orlando Shakespeare Festival, The Opera Company of North Carolina and Florida Studio Theatre just to name a few. Curtis is also an accomplished scenic, lighting and sound designer whose work has been seen at many regional theatres and on several national tours. Past productions for Gulfshore Playhouse include: Romeo and Juliet: Redefined, Oleanna, Life x 3, Married Alive, Another Night Before Christmas, Doubt: a Parable and Tartuffe, Honour, Beau Jest and A Doll's House.
JENNIFER MURRAY (costume designer/ props mistress) is thrilled to be returning to Gulfshore Playhouse for her third season! She has designed costumes for GSPH since the 2009- 2010 season, but last season, Jennifer decided to try her hand in props too. After an incredible year of theater, she decided to return this year to design both the costumes and props! A few of her favorite shows with GSPH include Beau Jest, A View From the Bridge, and Blithe Spirit. Jennifer would like to thank her GSPH family for another wonderful opportunity to create amazing theater and would also like to thank you, our patrons, for being in that seat and for your support of the arts! MELANIE J. LISBY* (Production Stage Manager/General Manager) is ecstatic to be a member of the Gulfshore Playhouse family where she has been stage managing since 2007! She has previously stage managed Handle with Care, Blithe Spirit, A Doll's House, Beau Jest, Honour, Tartuffe, Doubt, Another Night Before Christmas, Married Alive!, the revival of David Mamet's Oleanna, as well as the Florida Premiere of Life (x) 3 with Gulfshore Playhouse. Melanie has also worked on the East Coast of Florida at the Mosaic Theatre in Plantation where she Stage Managed Neil Labute's Wrecks; as well as with Loewy/Leone Productions running The Kid From Brooklyn: The Danny Kaye Story which was seen in Coral Springs and Jupiter, FL. She stage managed two seasons at the Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth, NH where she ran 8 full scale shows in 9 weeks each season! Melanie has stage managed in Chicago (World Premiere Take All of Us With You) and with The Indiana State Crossroads Repertory Theatre. Melanie is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association and is eternally grateful for the never-ending love and support from her husband, parents, and friends!
MICHAEL CASSARA, CSA (casting director) casts theatre and film in New York City, and is thrilled to be returning for a third season with Gulfshore Playhouse. Recent credits include Fat Camp (anticipated to open on Broadway in 2012), The Man Who Came To Dinner (New York's Peccadillo Theater Co.), Play It Cool (off-Broadway), Kingdom (The Old Globe), and the films >Clear Blue Tuesday and Alienated. Recent regional theatre: The Old Globe, Olney, Great Lakes Theater Festival, Idaho Shakespeare Festival and more. Michael is the resident casting director for the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) where he has cast over 45 new musicals since its inception in 2004.
